Everyone knows I never give a 5.0, but I had to make an exception this time. So many times I have been in Danville and never took the time to stop and eat here. I absolutely did not know what I was missing. This restaurant, hands down, is a consistent restaurant for quality food and a great atmosphere. I ate here often when my father was at Geisinger. No matter what time of the day, no matter what I ordered and what was ordered, probably seventy-five percent of the menu, the food has been exceptional. Even the take-out has been exceptional. The waitstaff has been EXEXCEPTIONALLY friendly and helpful. The bartender's drinks have been spot on even with special requests. Speaking of special requests, I asked for a slight modification to my meals and they did them with no problem without any fuss. The portions are a good size portion. Most people will definitely be asking for a to-go box.
I highly recommend is the French Onion soup. I have not had an onion soup this good in a long time. Many French onion soups are way too salty, but they hit it out of the park, both times I ordered it. I had the fish and chips twice to test for the consistency of the meal. Again they knocked it out of the park. The second time, I got the fish to go and the fish stayed crispy in the container, which is hard to do.
I have tried most of the menu and have not had a bad meal, it's hard to pinpoint just one item but the Fish and Chips are in the top 3 of my favorites.
The atmosphere is, you guessed it, a barn, they have the ability to hold large parties and special events.. The dining room is a farmhouse and friendly and the bar and table area are cozy with a fireplace to relax. The best part about this restaurant is that you get the barn feel and you still have the ability to have a conversation at your table. Many places I have visited have had issues with noise control and having a dinner conversation is impossible.
Whatever occasion or reason you decide to eat out, consider the Pine Barn at the top of your list.
